We're expanding our freelance event marketing network across the US, and we're looking for event marketers in Chicago to work with us on client projects.

TEMBO partners with some of the world's leading event organisers, publishers and media businesses, placing experienced marketers into projects across their portfolios. We have briefs in the Chicago area and are bringing more freelancers into our network so we can match the right person to each one. This isn't a single role, it's an introduction to ongoing project work across a range of briefs.

We work with contractors right across the US. If you're based elsewhere and the work fits, we'd still like to hear from you.

• Own and deliver multi-channel campaigns across email, digital, paid and social for B2B and B2C exhibitions and conferences
• Drive visitor, delegate and attendee acquisition against commercial targets
• Review, revise or build strategic marketing plans. Includes tracking progress, spotting where performance can be optimised, and acting on it
• Lead on brand positioning and stakeholder management across client teams
• Lead on digital, CRM, marketing automation and campaign data in service of commercial goals
• Deliver exhibitor marketing and retention programmes
• Step into interim leadership where a client needs senior cover at pace

Typical engagements include senior leadership cover, portfolio rebrands, marketing strategy refreshes, go-to-market planning, and hands-on marketing input.

• Proven event marketing delivery from within an organiser, publisher or media business, where you've had a target, a P&L to support, and a date in the diary that doesn't move
• Experience managing full event cycles and delivering end to end on campaigns
• Senior Manager, Head of Marketing or Director level experience
• Comfortable dropping into an existing team and getting up to speed fast
• Set up, or ready to set up, as an independent contractor with your own tax arrangements in place

Agency, brand-side and exhibitor-side marketing bring different strengths, but our clients are usually looking for organiser-side experience. So please make your organiser-side experience clear in your resume.
