About

The Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) is hiring passionate and committed interns for the 2026 Coordinated Campaign. This is a historic election cycle, with the Governorship, U.S. Senate, and 17 Congressional seats at stake, along with the State Senate, State House, and critical county and local‑level races across the state. DPI is building a first‑of‑its‑kind coordinated effort to meet this challenge and win competitive races up and down the ballot.

Interns assist coordinated staff in all facets of our campaign, supporting critical tasks and connecting with Democrats across Illinois. This is a part‑time position located in Illinois, with offices across the state. Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Illinois.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, and manage diverse teams of volunteers to execute direct voter contact
  • Plan, coordinate and lead volunteer events, including door‑to‑door canvasses, phone banks, text banks, community meetings, and candidate engagements
  • Develop, train, and elevate volunteer leaders to execute the statewide Get Out the Vote operation
  • Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders and community members to advance coordinated objectives
  • Participate in direct voter contact activities, including knocking on doors, calling, and texting
  • Support field, impact, distributed, and youth organizing initiatives as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • A passion for electing Democrats and engaging community members
  • Strong ability to manage workload and prioritize projects to meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrated capacity to synthesize, track, and report data
  • Proven commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture
  • Must have a cell phone, laptop, and access to reliable transportation

Interns will be paid $16/hour. A commitment to a recurring schedule of at least 20 hours per week is required, with a maximum of 40 hours per week. Interns are expected to report to their local coordinated office. The position concludes after Election Day, November 3, 2026. This role requires working long and irregular campaign hours during peak times, including nights and weekends.
