LUCHA | Action Corps | Community Builder

Overview

The Housing & Community Capacity Builder will serve with LUCHA in Chicago, IL, from September 2026‑2027. LUCHA, part of Housing Action Corps, is an Ameri Corps VISTA program that advances housing as a human right by empowering communities in the West and Northwest Side of Chicago through affordable housing development and community building. The role involves developing volunteer engagement, strengthening the grants pipeline, and enhancing marketing and communications.

• Develop and manage a volunteer engagement program that supports resident engagement and strengthens community connection.
• Research, develop, and report on grant proposals to strengthen LUCHA’s funding pipeline.
• Create marketing and communications materials to share LUCHA’s impact, elevate resident stories, and engage funders, partners, and community members.
• Collaborate with community members and partners to support housing stability and reduce displacement.

• Motivated by housing justice and neighborhood strengthening.
• Natural problem solver, self‑driven, collaborative, and able to manage multiple projects.
• Strong writing skills for drafting grants, reports, and outreach materials.
• Spanish language skills and prior experience in volunteer coordination, grant writing, or marketing are a plus, but not required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum age 18.
