Overview
The Communications Associate will serve with the Chicago Rehab Network (CRN) in Chicago, IL for a 12‑month Ameri Corps VISTA position from September 2026 to September 2027. CRN, a coalition of community‑based organizations, revitalizes neighborhoods through affordable housing development, rehabilitation, and community‑centered communication.
Responsibilities- Standardize and enhance CRN’s communications systems, including the Network News email newsletter, social media posts, and video media clips.
- Produce written content and short videos that promote the community development field and highlight housing solutions.
- Write and place an article on Chicago housing solutions in a national publication.
- Interview community leaders and attend partner events to build relationships and gather partnership insights.
- Participate in CRN’s Community Development and Empowerment Series.
- Support the writing, editing, and formatting of organizational documents to strengthen coalition capacity.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework or experience in communications or community development is a plus.
- Experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, or video editing preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct interviews and create engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Enthusiasm for promoting community development and coalition building in Chicago.
- Monthly housing stipend of $500.
- Living allowance, relocation allowance, training, and childcare assistance if eligible.
- Health coverage provided through Ameri Corps.
- Choice of Education Award or End‑of‑Service Stipend.
