Sr. Specialist, Donor Relations

The Sr. Specialist, Donor Relations provides critical stewardship support across all areas of the Relationship Development (RD) department, under the supervision of the Sr. Director, Donor Relations. The Relationship Development team is responsible for raising over $180 million annually through the work of dedicated professionals in major gifts, planned giving, foundation relations, relationship events, advocacy, prospect research, communications and stewardship.

Critical functions of this position include, but are not limited to: creating donor stewardship and communication materials, writing donor acknowledgements, supporting high-touch donor engagement and events, supporting RD fundraisers, tracking gifts and auditing data, providing customer service support to donors, and cultivating & stewarding the Association's major donors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborates with RD team members to grow and strengthen a proactive program for Donor Relations and Stewardship in major gifts, foundations, planned giving, relationship events and the Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM).
  • Manages the acknowledgement program for legacy relationship events including writing, producing and tracking personalized acknowledgements, and provides support to the major and foundation gift acknowledgement program.
  • Supports donor recognition and engagement initiatives for Association giving societies:
    Aspire Society, Founders Society, AIM Leadership Society and Zenith Society. This can include writing, editing and distributing content such as welcome cards, emails, event materials and donor communications.
  • Monitors and tracks gifts and pledge commitments from major donors and legacy events; auditing gifts and accounts to help ensure accurate coding in the CRM.
  • Monitors Leadership Giving email for donor requests, providing customer service support and sharing with appropriate contact for follow up.
  • Assists with data integrity and data management projects in the CRM in partnership with the Prospect Management & Research team.
  • Supports the distribution of content through Thank View, a video stewardship tool, for the Association's high level donors.
  • Partners with Donor Communications on the implementation and production of Ovrture for the Association's highest level donors. This can include writing projects, content coordination, and sending out to constituents.
  • Assists with the tracking and formatting of donor reports in partnership with the Donor Communications and Stewardship teams.
  • Supports stewardship programming initiatives, actively researching trends, best practices, and strategies for donor acknowledgement and recognition across target audiences.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree a plus
  • 3-5 years experience in nonprofit, donor relations, or a related field

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

include:

  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; with a strong aptitude for relationship building
  • Demonstrated project management experience – the ability to organize, plan and carry out activities independently to meet specific timelines and goals
  • Demonstrated skills in donor engagement, donor recognition and writing for donor communications preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Keen understanding of working in a federated, nonprofit structure, coupled with desire to work collaboratively across functions and chapters
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google applications
  • Experience with using a CRM and analyzing donor/customer data

Position Grade & Compensation:
Grade 507 The Alzheimer's Association's good faith expectation for the salary range for this role is between $71,000 and $85,000.
