Job Description
The Midwest Organizing Director plays a key role in our organizing efforts in the tech community and the immigration reform movement. You will be responsible for engaging startups, tech companies, and business leaders in the fight for commonsense immigration reform, building relationships with local elected officials, and working closely with immigration coalitions in Chicago and the surrounding Midwest. The position will be based out of our Chicago office, with some travel expected to surrounding Midwestern states as well as DC.
Qualifications- 2-3 years of experience in immigration reform advocacy, tech policy advocacy, or political organizing.
- Flexible and adaptive in a fast-paced team environment.
- Experienced relationship-builder and trainer.
- Team player who collaborates, supports coworkers, and is willing to jump in without ego.
- Experience with center-right or Republican campaigns or organizations preferred.
- Cultivate relationships with high-level members of the regional tech community and plug them into advocacy opportunities for immigration reform.
- Build relationships with regional immigration coalitions, Members of Congress, and elected officials—on both sides of the aisle.
- Manage, mentor, and support associate organizers who will report to you.
- Implement national advocacy campaigns at the regional level throughout Chicago and the Midwest.
- Train volunteers to share their immigration stories.
All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
