Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in a correctional setting, requiring an active IL RN license and mandatory floating within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Work within a correctional facility on a Med/Surg unit

• Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 am – 7:30 pm

• Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month)

• Mandatory floating to other units and facilities within a 50-mile radius as needed

• No block scheduling or special scheduling accommodations

• Uses Cerner for charting

• Navy blue scrubs required

• Free parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis

• Strict compliance on documentation and lab work, which must be completed within 72 hours of accepting an offer

• No requests for time off exceeding 5 days or more than 2 consecutive days; no holiday RTO or RTO immediately before/after holidays; no weekend RTO approved

• If floated outside of primary competency, team-based model is used for support

• May be notified of floating assignments up to 2 hours before a shift

• First-time travelers will be considered

• Locals are accepted and preferred

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required (pending licensure not accepted)

• Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required

• Correctional nursing experience preferred

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

• Must live within 75 miles of the facility

• Proof of COVID vaccination required
