Salary: The previously determined range for this position was $38.26hr to $85.82/hr*. The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position.
This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date.

Position SummaryThe Staff Nurse II is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Staff Nurse II provides direct patient care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Staff Nurse II functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals.
Staff Nurse II facilitates educational development of staff, leads unit-based quality improvement initiatives, and acts as a professional and clinical role model and educational resource for staff. Staff Nurse II is actively engaged in Shared Leadership through membership on a governing council.
- Develops, implements, and updates the patient's plan of care based on on-going assessment of the patient and input from the patient's family.
- Shares information and collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care.
- Verifies and implements orders from physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse by performing interventions as prescribed by the provider and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan.
- Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient's changing needs.
- Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback.
- Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession.
- Assumes role of Charge Nurse when assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools.
- Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide "quality" patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies.
