Responsibilities
Hartgrove Behavioral Hospital is looking for a dynamic Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
The Licensed Practical Nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing nursing practice on the unit, including a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Hartgrove Behavioral Hospital.
- Shift: PM (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm)
- Shift: Nights (11:00 pm – 7:30 am)

Qualifications- Education: Graduate of a licensed practical nursing program.
- Experience: One-year prior experience in inpatient psychiatric mental health nursing preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Illinois; BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management and CPR training.
- Supervision Received: Charge Nurse, Head Nurse, Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior; potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids; general hospital environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; physical agility to manage patients with crisis prevention interventions; push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds; intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
