Friend Health is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) team. Under the supervision of the MAT Nurse Supervisor, the RN is responsible for conducting nursing assessments, administering medications, implementing physician orders, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and providing compassionate care to individuals receiving substance use disorder treatment services. The RN will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to support patient recovery and ensure compliance with clinical, regulatory, and agency standard.
JOB DUTIES
- Conduct admission and discharge nursing assessments and document findings accurately and timely.
- Perform health screenings for assigned admissions. Receive, review, document, and implement physician orders.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and nursing notes.
- Monitor patients for signs of intoxication, overdose, or withdrawal.
- Maintain medication inventory and required clinical records.
- Assist with orientation and training of new staff.
- Participate in staff development, in-service training, and continuing education activities.
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide compassionate and respectful patient care while maintaining confidentiality.
- Support other nursing staff as operational needs require.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Current CPR Certification required.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of nursing experience.
- Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders preferred.
- Knowledge of nursing assessment, treatment planning, and patient care.
- Ability to observe, assess, document, and report patient conditions.
- Knowledge of medication administration standards and protocols.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, withdrawal symptoms, overdose response, and recovery services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of quality improvement and accreditation standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and computer systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Medication Administration Accuracy
- Maintain a medication administration accuracy rate of 98% or higher by following established medication administration protocols and documenting all medication-related activities accurately throughout the fiscal year.
- Complete 100% of nursing assessments, physician orders, and patient documentation within required time frames as measured through monthly chart audits and supervisory review.
- Maintain compliance with all MAT program policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements by achieving no significant findings during internal or external audits and completing all required annual training by assigned deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Primarily works in a clinical healthcare environment.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.
- May lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to patients with behavioral health and substance use treatment needs.
- Must follow all infection control and safety procedures.
Hourly Rate: $34.00
Occupational Risk for Exposure to TB:
There is an occupational risk for exposure to TB, as this position involves extensive community and patient contact. Employees in this role are required to comply with annual TB testing as part of workplace health and safety protocols. The only acceptable exceptions to this requirement are documented medical contraindications or religious objections. Employees who decline TB testing will be required to wear a mask when deemed necessary.
