This position is a 100% onsite opportunity located in Hyde Park.
As a Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for providing patient-centered nursing care that is goal-directed and adapted to the needs of individuals and families throughout the perioperative experience.
In this role, the Staff Nurse will provide nursing care based on established knowledge, skills, and standards of practice. The nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care while maintaining accountability for all care provided. The Staff Nurse works collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality patient outcomes and a positive patient experience.
Essential Job Functions- Utilizes assessment skills to determine patient needs and provide comprehensive patient and family care for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics
- Identifies learning needs of patients and families and develops teaching methods to enhance understanding and recovery
- Implements nursing actions based on scheduled procedures, patient assessments, and developmental needs
- Evaluates care provided and modifies interventions based on changing patient conditions
- Successfully completes unit-based and hospital competencies as designated
- Performs nursing treatments and procedures according to hospital policy and standards of nursing practice
- Maintains current CPR certification
- Prepares and administers medications and treatments according to physician orders while ensuring patient safety
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to provide holistic patient care
- Communicates patient status changes to appropriate team members
- Documents all aspects of patient care according to hospital policies and procedures
- Incorporates discharge planning into daily practice to ensure smooth transitions of care
- Provides cost‑effective care through appropriate use of time, supplies, and personnel
- Actively participates in unit staff meetings and departmental initiatives
- Assists with development and attainment of unit goals and objectives
- Contributes to a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, engagement, and staff retention
- Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned
- Participates in leadership, mentoring, and educational opportunities within the department
- Supports quality improvement initiatives and evidence‑based practice activities
- Participates in the preceptor program and staff development activities
- Attends required in‑services and educational programs
- Graduate of an NLN‑accredited School of Nursing
- Associate Degree in Nursing or higher
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Two years of Medical Surgical ICU experience
- ACLS Certification
- ACLS and PALS certification within six months of hire
