PM ADON/Supervisor

In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the Guests we serve, the Nurse Supervisor R.N. plays a critical role in providing superior customer service and nursing services to all Guests on the assigned unit as well as in the facility as a whole. The Nurse Supervisor assists the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing (D.O.N.) in the planning, development, and overall operation of the assigned unit, which ensures Guests receive quality care 24 hours a day.

Functions
  • Assists the D.O.N. and A.D.O.N. with planning, directing, and supervising the activities of the nursing staff.
  • Ensures the Nursing Department is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develops, implements, and updates department policy and procedures when necessary or as directed.
  • Assists with staffing to ensure Guest needs and regulatory requirements are met at all times.
  • Participates in Federal, State and Local agency annual surveys.
  • Reviews any deficiencies noted by government agencies during inspections and assists with the implementation of changes needed to correct any deficiencies found.
  • Provides guidance and education to staff regarding their performance.
  • Provides counseling and disciplinary action to subordinate staff members as needed.
  • Responsible for training and educating staff members on the assigned unit.
  • Ensures adequate staffing on the assigned unit at all times, including filling in as a floor Nurse and coordinating floor Nurse and C.N.A. breaks.
  • Assures that established infection control and prevention practices and standard precautions are maintained at all times.
  • Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
  • Facilitates Nurse-to-Nurse admission and discharge reports to/from hospitals and other institutions.
  • Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, accidents/incidents and supply issues to the appropriate persons.
  • Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Guests and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
  • Ensures each Guest receives person-centered care.
  • Responds to call lights promptly and courteously when working in Guest care areas.
  • Assists with new admissions, re-admissions and assists with the transfer of Guests to different rooms within the assigned unit.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Guests, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services.
  • Recognizes your role as part of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts of your organization.
  • Attends trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
  • Carries out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Follows established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
  • Shares any identified opportunities for improvement with leadership.
  • Communicates to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
