CILA Nurse

The CILA Nurse will function as the primary care nurse for a designated area and/or caseload. They will be responsible for performing assessments and responding to emergency situations. Responsible for communicating concerns with the medical provider/Director of Nursing/VP of clinical services. In addition, working under a Registered Nurse Trainer Certification (RN Trainer), the CILA Nurse will provide oversight of resident medical needs for assigned area and appropriate training for staff member assigned to area.

Qualifications
  • Active RN license in the State of Illinois
  • Must possess one year of clinical registered professional nurse experience within the last five years, preferably in DD
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proven initiative, responsibility, and demonstrated ability to work with a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work with residents, families, and staff
  • Ability to complete RN trainer certification within 3 months after
  • Proficient with computers (previous EMR experience, Microsoft Outlook and Word)
  • Proficiency in intervening physically during health or behavioral crises.
  • Active and valid IL driver’s license
Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing & VP of Clinical Services, ensure that the health and medical needs of individuals in the assigned group homes are met.
  • Provide oversight and training to staff regarding the self‑administration of medication and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure reliable and punctual attendance, with flexibility to meet the needs of individuals and homes.
  • Participate in team‑based self‑scheduling to cover designated hours.
  • Review monthly summaries, general health status, vital signs, medications, and treatments administered.
  • Evaluate injury reports and make recommendations for additional medical interventions.
  • Review and sign medication orders monthly & obtain provider signatures.
  • Address medication errors, retrain staff as necessary, and report errors to relevant authorities.
  • Coordinate and review annual physical and dental examinations, specialist, outline laboratory screenings and special tests.
  • Coordinate specimen/culture collection, record results, and notify physicians of any immediate actions required.
