Neonatology Advanced Practice Provider

Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL

We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology. Candidates will provide direct patient care for critically ill infants, ranging from extremely preterm to complex surgical cases, and collaborate with neonatologists, fellows, residents, and advanced practice providers.

Department / Division Specifications
  • 14 fellow NICU APPs
  • 7 Neonatologists
  • 2 Neonatology Fellows
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Shift schedule includes 10‑hour day shifts, 16‑hour overnight shifts (4 pm – 8 am), and optional 24‑hour shifts.
  • Participate in delivery‑room attendance and management, neonatal procedures, and neonatal transport.
  • Report to the NICU co‑Lead APPs.
  • Work 100% inpatient.
  • Self‑scheduling within guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior Advanced Practice Provider experience in neonatology.
  • Acute‑Care certification required for APRN candidates.
  • Up to $20,000 signing bonus for experienced NICU APPs, if applicable.
Position Requirements

Nurse Practitioner

  • Current licensure from Illinois as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice with clinical specialty appropriate to the position.
  • Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Maintain Illinois and Federal DEA licenses.
  • Maintain clinical privileges at RUMC, ROPH, and RCMC as applicable.
  • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience treating patients of all ages.
  • Procedural experience (e.g., simple laceration repair, incision & drainage).

Physician Assistant

  • Current licensure from Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Maintain clinical privileges at RUMC, ROPH, and RCMC as applicable.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience treating patients of all ages.
  • Procedural experience (e.g., simple laceration repair, incision & drainage).
Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $144,000 – $203,000

We offer competitive total compensation including base pay, benefits, signing bonuses, relocation allowances, and incentive programs, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
