The salary range for this position is $36.50 - $58.40 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement is guided by the collective bargaining agreement.

The Clinical Nurse reflects NIH's mission, vision and values, and complies with all relevant policies and accreditation standards. The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable for patient care including diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation to ensure evidence‑based care. The RN works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, participates in decision‑making, teaching, mentoring, and supports unit operations.
Responsibilities Advocate- Practices in accordance with the patient‑centered care model.
- Develops individualized, age‑specific culturally sensitive nursing plans based on the nursing process.
- Incorporates the role of patient advocate into the plan of care.
- Uses a team approach to develop and achieve daily patient‑centered individualized goals.
- Acknowledges and values contributions of the patient’s significant others.
- Identifies potential conflict situations and facilitates resolution using established communication channels.
- Promotes and seeks to protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient.

- Advances clinical expertise through continuing education and specialty certification when eligible.

- Shares knowledge through educating team members, patients and students.
- Uses critical thinking to pose relevant clinical questions when evidence and practice differ.
- Sets realistic and measurable goals, prioritizes, prescribes, and implements interventions safely and timely.
- Develops individualized education plans for patients and families.
- Evaluates and documents responses to interventions, adjusting the plan accordingly.
- Escalates when further intervention is required and consults appropriate experts.
- Participates in team goal formation, implementation and evaluation.
- Delegates and supervises interventions to implement the plan.
- Conveys accurate information during bedside hand‑offs.
- Adheres to ethical standards of practice.
- Participates in one or more volunteer initiatives annually, organized by the hospital or independently.
- Demonstrates interpersonal connections from introduction through discharge.
- Proactively addresses patient concerns, explaining expected delays in care.
- Treats patients, families, visitors and staff with respect and dignity.
