Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse House Supervisor to oversee hospital operations during the assigned tour of duty, particularly on every other weekend. As a registered professional nurse under the direction of the AVP/Nurse and CNO, you will coordinate administration, staff, and patient care services, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult staff on technical and professional matters and serve as a clinical resource.
  • Apply knowledge of COBRA Regulations for patient transfers and discharge procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the Pharmaceutical Act during pharmacy closures and other regulatory standards.
  • Report critical patient information to the House Physician and support admission and discharge processes.
  • Assist staff in developing and implementing patient care plans and in ensuring spiritual care needs are met.
  • Interpret and enforce nursing, administrative, environmental, and infection control policies.
  • Obtain and authorize patient transfers in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Coordinate ambulance services and maintain requisition and payment compliance.
  • Assign beds to compatible patients and maintain hospital discipline and policy conformity.
  • Complete Organ Donation Notification and related documentation as required.
  • Evaluate child abuse and elderly patient cases and report to appropriate authorities.
  • Attend hospital administration meetings and relevant committees.
  • Manage medical records requisitions and ensure timely submission.
  • Implement low census plans and maintain the C.Q.M. program.
  • Conduct patient rounds, identify deficiencies, and develop improvement strategies.
  • Solve scheduling issues and manage resources effectively.
  • Provide strategic direction, mentor staff, and manage departmental dynamics.
  • Maintain staffing levels, administer personnel policies, and conduct evaluations.
  • Deliver courteous service to internal and external customers, addressing concerns cooperatively.
  • Manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and maintain quality and productivity standards.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and respect for diversity in all interactions.
  • Ensure Administrative Supervisor staff complete mandatory competencies and annual evaluations.
  • Participate in relevant committees and aid in selection, promotion, and disciplinary actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Compliance Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards within the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Stay abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and hospital regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Ensure staff receive training and are evaluated on compliance knowledge.
Job Requirements
  • Illinois Licensed RN
  • Current certifications in CPR, BLS, and ACLS
  • At least 2 years of supervisory nursing experience in various roles
  • Knowledge and skills in utilizing management principles and methods
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving ability
  • Availability for 2 days or 2 weekend days per week as required
  • Previous 3 years of House Supervisor experience
Physical Demands

The job requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Good vision, hearing, and speaking abilities are necessary. The role may involve periods of intense concentration and stress.
