Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in managing the nursing department within a long-term care facility. The ADON helps oversee the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves supervision, staff development, quality assurance, and administrative duties to maintain a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment for residents and staff.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the nursing department.
Ensure delivery of high-quality care in accordance with current standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Monitor and evaluate nursing staff performance; provide coaching, support, and corrective action as needed.
Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training of nursing personnel.
Maintain staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
Conduct regular rounds to monitor quality of care and resident well-being.
Support the implementation and monitoring of infection control, quality assurance, and risk management programs.
Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
Participate in care plan meetings, audits, and surveys.
Act as the DON in their absence.
Qualifications:Current RN license in the state of practice (required).
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing long-term care.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
