Pay: $140,000 - $190,000 Annual
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Vice President, Nursing & Clinical Service Delivery leads HBH nursing function and collaborates with various stakeholders to establish, implement, and maintain best practices in nursing practice and service delivery across all Howard Brown clinics including, but not limited to, ensuring appropriate clinical care delivered by nursing staff, efficient and coordinated support of care teams in delivery of care, infection control, and organization-wide accreditation readiness.
This mission critical role leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the values and vision of Howard Brown Health as well as supports organizational culture enhancement and management efforts.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Nursing Operations
- Collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders on matters related to, but not limited to health center operations, clinical quality, budgeting and preventative care, clinical growth opportunities
- Evaluates and modifies nursing best practices, standards of care, standing orders, patient communications in the electronic health record (EHR) and procedures as needed according to current trends in primary medical and nursing care
- Oversees enterprise operations, such as infection control for clinic spaces, accreditation readiness/preparedness and provide consultation to other key areas, such as disaster preparedness, emergency response, etc
- Implements current or new clinic best practices, standards of care, standing orders, patient communications in the EHR, and procedures and monitor for adherence, usefulness, and effectiveness
- Partners with health center operations to review and evaluate the need for new medical supplies and medications, as well as evaluation of patient care flow, systems, efficiency, and communication
- Implements and maintain best practices in clinic medication and vaccine supply stewardship and inventory
- Collaborates with Practice Managers and Clinical Managers in the day-to-day management and oversight of the nursing team, and service delivery
- Oversees recruitment and retention activities, including current position control list and monitoring the nurse to provider staffing ratios
- Evaluates the nursing team to ensure optimal competency and coordinate appropriate staff trainings, including continuing education opportunities, CPR/BLS trainings, in-service trainings, professional licensure, and fitness for duty
- Provides senior leadership to mid-level nursing managers, leadership to oversee procedures, such as daily nursing schedules and adequate staffing
- Conducts nursing quality improvement and quality assurance activities including but not limited to completion of STI treatment result audits, nursing chart audits, morbidity and mortality reporting, verification of timely response for telephone nursing desktops and telephonic nurse triage
- Ensures adherence to nursing collective bargaining agreement standards and expectations
- Provides direct patient care supporting care teams on an ad-hoc, as needed basis
General Operating Excellence & Supervision
- In collaboration with the CMO, supports organizational strategic planning and strategic plan execution as well as designs and develops nursing operating plans
