We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking, and deeply empathetic Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing operations and champion the highest standards of resident-centered care.
The OpportunityAs the Director of Nursing, you will serve as the clinical leader and operational backbone of our nursing department. You will oversee all nursing staff, lead quality assurance initiatives, maintain regulatory compliance, and shape the clinical culture across our campus.
This is an exceptional role for a proven nurse leader who thrives on building strong clinical teams, empowering direct care staff, and driving positive outcomes for older adults.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Leadership: Provide strategic direction, clinical oversight, and day-to-day management for the entire nursing department (RNs, LPNs, CNAs).
- Quality & Compliance: Direct infection control, risk management, and quality assurance (QAPI) programs to ensure full compliance with IDPH, CMS, and local health guidelines.
- Team Development: Lead recruitment, onboarding, ongoing education, and retention initiatives to foster a supportive, high-performing nursing culture.
- Resident Advocacy: Partner with attending physicians, interdisciplinary care teams, and families to ensure personalized, comprehensive care plans for every resident.
- Financial & Resource Management: Manage department budgeting, staffing models, and clinical resource allocation efficiently.
- Licensure: Active, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Illinois (BSN required; MSN or Healthcare Administration degree preferred).
- Experience: 3+ years of progressive nursing leadership experience (DON, ADON, or Clinical Director) within a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Care (LTC) setting.
- Regulatory Expertise: Deep operational knowledge of Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and CMS regulations, survey preparedness, and MDS processes.
- Leadership Style: Strong clinical acumen combined with excellent interpersonal, communication, and crisis-management abilities.
