Medical Technologist & Lab Technician

Salary/Grade: NEX/10
Target hiring range: $18.42-$23.02 per hour.
Job SummaryThe Lab Assistant is responsible for a) daily management of physical resources (e.g., inventory, supplies, equipment); b) monitoring lab practices and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory (government and university) requirements and technical updates (e.g., safety, biohazard waste disposal, training); c) maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory interfaces; d) assisting with data mining; e) providing miscellaneous assistance to the PI (or designee) on an ad hoc basis/as requested.

- Take inventory and stock hallway, storage, and break rooms.
- Receive and distribute mail/packages to the correct lab group.
- Troubleshooting/maintenance.
- Coordinate instrument movement/installation/training.
- Work with instrument vendors and establish service contracts for all instruments.
- Generate Fed Ex labels and coordinate shipping details.
- Establish work relationship with vendors.
- Follow up on outstanding orders.
- Obtain quotes from vendors for reagents.
- Assist with new lab/department member onboarding/contact person.
- Assist with coordinating with IT for new employees or tech issues.
- Assist with department printer troubleshooting.
- Coordinate annual safety inspections.
- Coordinate annual lab member safety trainings.
- Coordinate biohazardous waste disposal.
- Coordinate completion of eIBC form.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Some experience working in a laboratory or administrative medical office setting.
