Pay Rate: $16.20–$18.00/hour
Employment Type: Contingent
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00am-7:30pm
Why This Role MattersThis role is essential to ensuring specimens are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with evolving regulations. The work performed directly supports laboratory operations and contributes to quality outcomes and customer satisfaction in a high-volume clinical setting.
What You’ll Do- Perform general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department
- Complete data entry with speed and accuracy (up to 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour)
- Handle specimen processing tasks such as presort, A-station functions, centrifugation, aliquoting, and imaging/microfilming
- Pick up and deliver processed specimens to laboratory areas
- Learn and apply compliance and test-ordering requirements that may change daily
- Maintain productivity and quality standards in a production-driven environment
- Follow safety procedures while working in a biohazard environment
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and audit-ready
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership
- Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, including potential weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call needs
- A current, up-to-date resume
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong data entry skills and basic computer knowledge
- Ability to stay organized and work accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
- Willingness and ability to learn specimen types and laboratory processes
- Preferred (but not required): laboratory, medical, hospital, or production environment experience
- Preferred knowledge of medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to meet compliance requirements
- Consistent weekday schedule (Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–7:30 PM)
