BASIC FUNCTION

The EHS Specialist will provide Environment, Health, and Safety support for the Sabert Chicago site by developing and/orassistinginthedevelopment,implementation,andauditingofenvironmental,health and safety policies and procedures, to promote a zero-injury culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Providesupporttothesite’sEnvironmental Healthand Safetyprogramtodriveproactive EHS programs and risk mitigation.
  • Engageandworkwithemployees,supervisors,anddepartmentmanagers,tomaintainand continuously improve Sabert’s Environmental Health and Safety program.
  • Recommendmeasurestohelpprotectworkersfrompotentiallyat-riskconditions,processes,or materials.
  • Lead or participate in thorough investigations for all incidents and accidents on site and ensure timelycompletionofcorrectiveactions.
  • Leadtheteamindevelopingeffectiverootcauseanalysis and corrective actions.
  • Leadand/orassistintheimplementationofsafetypoliciesandprocedurestoensurecompliance with Sabert policies as well as all local, state, and federal regulations and requirements.
  • PartnerwiththeEHSManagertoreview,update,anddevelopwrittenprograms,policies,and procedures for safety adherence.
  • UnderthementorshipoftheEHSManagerandsiteleadership,theindividualwillworkcloselywith cross-functional teams to promote and foster a strong EHS culture.
  • Conductweekly Safety Assessments.
  • Participateinincidentinvestigationsandworkwithteammemberstoimplementcorrectiveand preventative actions.
  • Updatevisualsafety boards.
  • AssisttheEHSManagerwithprovidingtrainingand coaching.
  • Attend Safety Championmonthlymeetingswiththe EHS Manager.
  • Helporganizesafety celebrations.
  • Conductmonthlyinspectionsofeyewashstationsandfirstaid cabinets.
  • Assistinthetrackingofkeyperformanceindicatorsanddeliverablestoprovidedirectionand support to the site.
  • SupporttheEHSManagerwithadditionaldutiesas required.
OTHER

Workinaccordancewithallcompanypoliciesandproceduresregardingemployment,safety,quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Preferred BS or BA degree in safety engineering, environmental or industrial hygiene or comparable field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and local EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and CDC.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, ownership, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and an integrated team working style.
  • A self-starter with high energy and a passion for results.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications.
