Job Title:

QC Specialist (Quality Control Specialist)

Shift: 2nd Shift (2pm‑10:30pm, Monday‑Friday, Saturday as needed)

Regular Full Time
Minimum Salary: $25.00 per hour + $0.50 shift differential for 2nd shift. Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, training and internal equity. Full‑time employees are eligible for an extensive benefits program.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for data entry, managing and utilizing date information within company databases.
  • Preside over facility sanitation practices and perform inspections of equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure conformance to GMP guidelines and all company policies and procedures.
  • Inspect finished goods, including Medical Foods, Dietary Supplements and other high‑profile contract customer products.
  • Identify non‑conforming conditions within the manufacturing environment and with products and materials per food safety and quality compliance.
  • Place non‑conforming products and materials into hold status.
  • Communicate food safety and quality issues to production supervisors, managers and other facility personnel as required.
  • Initiate investigations into the causes of material or product non‑conformances, gathering pertinent information (documents, interviews, evidence, etc.) without prompt from a supervisor.
  • Investigate customer complaints with guidance from a supervisor.
  • Perform audits based on SQF guidelines:
    Hard Plastic, Processing Line, X‑Ray, etc.
  • Make suggestions to improve plant safety, food safety and product quality.
  • Suggest ways to increase efficiency and cost savings within the department and actively participate in implementing ideas.
  • Gather finished good samples per program requirements.
  • Provide hands‑on training to plant employees as directed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years’ quality control experience in the food/beverage industry.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, FDA or USDA regulations for foods and beverages is desirable.
  • Experience with internal auditing, CAPA investigations and training of personnel is a plus.
  • Must be able to complete a basic skills assessment test.
  • Good computer skills (e‑mail, internet use, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive behavior and initiative with limited supervision.
  • Good analytical skills, attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
  • Desire to learn, take on challenges and responsibilities; cross‑training in other quality areas.
  • Basic math skills (arithmetic, percentages, ratios, measurements).
  • Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Good conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify and communicate unsafe work conditions to a supervisor.
Physical Demands
  • Climbing, balancing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.
  • Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Requires close visual acuity with full color perception for tasks such as data analysis, computer use, extensive reading and small‑defect inspection.
Work Environment
  • Office, laboratory and manufacturing facility with exposure to allergens.
  • Dusty production environment.
  • Noise level may require a raised voice to be heard.
  • Physical hazards including moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and exposure to high heat.
Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities

Follow applicable work procedures and instructions. Monitor and record CCPs and CQPs, ensuring compliance with prerequisite programs. Provide backup support as needed.
