Position: Quality Assurance Supervisor (2nd Shift)

Role Description

The QA Supervisor leads the day-to-day quality assurance activities on the production floor, ensuring finished products meet food safety, regulatory, and company quality standards. This role supervises QA technicians, oversees HACCP and food safety program execution, and serves as a key liaison between quality, production, and sanitation teams to drive continuous improvement and audit readiness.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train, and schedule QA technicians across assigned shift(s), ensuring adequate coverage for all production lines
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with HACCP, SQF/BRC, USDA/FSIS, and company GMP standards
  • Conduct and oversee in-process quality checks, product testing, and documentation for critical control points
  • Investigate quality deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints; lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) plans
  • Support internal and third-party audits (USDA, SQF, customer audits) by maintaining audit-ready documentation and records
  • Partner with Production and Sanitation to address quality holds, product releases, and rework decisions
  • Review and approve daily quality records, batch documentation, and lab results for accuracy and completeness
  • Train production employees on quality standards, allergen control, and food safety procedures
  • Support new product introductions and process validations from a quality perspective
  • Escalate significant food safety or regulatory risks to QA Manager/Director immediately
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive quality assurance and food safety experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing quality programs across more than one manufacturing facility simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience in the meat, poultry, or prepared foods industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with USDA/FSIS and FDA regulatory relationships.
  • Working knowledge of USDA/FSIS regulations, FDA FSMA, HACCP, and GFSI standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to speak basic conversational Spanish required.
  • Fully Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in quality management software (e.g., Safety Chain, Alchemy, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Preference given for the following certifications: PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) – FDA FSMA; HACCP Certified (IAFP, ASQ, or equivalent); SQF Practitioner or Lead Auditor certification; ASQ Certified Quality;
    Manager (CQM/OE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
Compensation and Benefits Summary
  • Pay Range: $140,000 - $170,000 per year.
