About the Role As a Quality Technician at Atlas Tube at Zekelman Industries, Chicago, IL, this role is responsible for supporting product quality on the designated shift through testing, inspection, and quality monitoring activities. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this position plays a key role in overseeing ultrasonic testing processes, managing non-conforming material, and auditing inspection functions. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, technically skilled, and committed to maintaining high-quality manufacturing standards.

What You’ll DoCollect samples from mill areas for testing and evaluation

Prepare samples for required mechanical and quality testing

Operate and maintain testing lab equipment and machinery

Use measuring tools such as tape measures and micrometers to verify specifications

Enter mechanical testing results into SAP accurately

Perform work in compliance with company safety policies and report unsafe conditions

Communicate ongoing quality and departmental issues to the Quality Supervisor Notify Quality Technicians or management of testing issues, including failures or equipment malfunctions

Report machine issues to maintenance personnel and quality leadership

Maintain housekeeping and organization of the work area Train other employees as assigned by the supervisor

Perform additional duties as assigned

Who You Are High school diploma or some college education, preferred

Familiarity with computers, email, and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point Ability  to use measuring equipment such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers

Strong communication skills with the ability to read and interpret safety rules, procedures, and equipment manuals

Ability to prepare routine reports and effectively communicate with team members

Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and working with fractions and decimals

Flexibility to work in an industrial environment and extended hours as needed

Physical Abilities Stand, walk, use hands, and reach with arms throughout the shift

Lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull as required

Lift up to 50 pounds

Work in a manufacturing or industrial environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles

Work in occasional wet or humid conditions

Work in a loud environment requiring appropriate safety precautions
