QUALITY ENGINEER SUMMARY
Our client is a well-established precision manufacturing company serving the aerospace and defense industries. With decades of experience, the company manufactures highly engineered, tight-tolerance components and assemblies for demanding applications where quality, reliability, and traceability are critical. We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations, customer quality requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position will work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Quality personnel to ensure products and processes meet customer, engineering, and aerospace quality standards.
The Quality Engineer will have hands-on involvement with manufacturing quality, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, inspection requirements, quality documentation, and process improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS- Previous Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with in CNC machining, precision manufacturing, aerospace, gears, or other tight-tolerance manufacturing preferred
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems
- Experience with FAI/AS9102, corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and nonconformance management
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
- Familiarity with precision inspection and metrology equipment, including CMMs, micrometers, calipers, indicators, and related measurement systems
- Understanding of SPC, capability studies, and manufacturing process controls
- Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and/or highly relevant work experience
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and quality documentation
- Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, quality procedures, and related documentation
- Investigate internal and customer nonconformances and lead root-cause and corrective-action activities
- Prepare corrective-action responses using 8D, 5-Why, and other structured problem-solving methods
- Support First Article Inspection activities and AS9102 documentation
- Work directly with Manufacturing Engineering, machinists, and inspection personnel to resolve process and product quality issues
- Analyze inspection and production data to identify quality trends and opportunities for improvement
- Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory quality audits
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing scrap, rework, and recurring quality issues
- Assist with supplier quality issues and corrective actions as needed
- Communicate with customers regarding quality concerns, documentation, and corrective actions
- Maintain compliance with the company's Quality Management System and applicable aerospace requirements
