Salary: $60,000–$65,000.
- Design and conduct independent and collaborative experiments in gut barrier biology, inflammation, and injury response.
- Lead functional epithelial assays, including tight junction permeability models, TEER measurements, and barrier integrity and cytokine‑induced disruption studies.
- Perform and support in vivo murine studies, including burn injury, alcohol, trauma, and colitis models.
- Perform molecular and cellular biology techniques:
Western blotting, ELISA, RNA/DNA isolation, RT‑qPCR, immunofluorescence and confocal imaging. - Mentor trainees and contribute to institute‑wide collaborations.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant applications, and scientific presentations.
- Play a central role in designing and executing experimental studies examining intestinal epithelial tight junction regulation, gut barrier failure and systemic inflammation after burn/trauma, microbiome‑based and probiotic interventions, and experimental models of intestinal inflammation, including DSS‑induced colitis.
- Strong background in epithelial biology, inflammation, or translational disease research.
- Demonstrated expertise in experimental techniques: cell culture and functional barrier assays, immunoblotting and immunoassays, PCR and quantitative gene expression analysis.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
Doctoral Degree (MD or PhD) in Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Immunology, or other biomedical sciences.
Required ExperienceMinimum 2–5 years of completed mentored postdoctoral scientific training or work experience.
Computer SkillsMicrosoft Office.
Physical Demands and Working ConditionsDirect animal contact required. No specific physical demands or working conditions beyond those typical for a laboratory setting.
SalaryPosition maximum salary: $65,000.
Position minimum salary: $60,000.
