Pay

Pay Range: $17.63 - $24.91 per hour (based on education, experience, and other factors)

Summary

The Research Assistant is responsible for collecting information from participants according to research study protocols. The role includes conducting interviews, epidemiological, social or behavioral assessments, and collecting data and/or biological samples from research participants and families. The assistant aids in writing reports and publications and assists in interviewing subjects to better understand their health and wellbeing. The position exemplifies Rush’s mission, vision, and values and adheres to Rush policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Some college with prior data collection experience.
  • Entry level proficiency in Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets and databases.
  • Detail oriented with high attention to accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop rapport with a diverse pool of research participants.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive topics and maintain confidentiality of participants.
  • Ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary team settings.
  • May require 6-8 weeks training depending on study protocols.
  • Availability to work evenings, overnight, and weekends if called for under the study protocols.
  • May require personal transportation to field location.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (if degreed, no prior experience required).
  • Prior work with research study protocols.
  • Fluent in spoken English and an Asian language (Korean, Hindi, Urdu, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Tagalog, etc.).
  • Must be able to read and write in English and the corresponding Asian language script.
Responsibilities
  • May recruit, screen and schedule potential study participants.
  • May write and create surveys utilizing standard research protocol.
  • May assist in grant proposal writing.
  • May identify community partners in the Chicagoland area.
  • May assist in communications with researchers and members of the research community.
  • Recruit and schedule participants for research study, including explaining the goals of the study, obtaining informed consent, and arranging for the evaluation of study participants.
  • May conduct focus groups.
  • Follow up by phone, email, and mail with study participants.
  • Participate in the preparation and delivery of presentations to disseminate study findings.
  • Analyze data and draft data reports, manuscripts and presentations.
  • Utilize approved informed consent and HIPAA procedures.
  • Administer tests and questionnaires, including the assessment of participant eligibility, level of function, and/or response to intervention(s) according to research study protocols.
  • Help maintain study procedure documentation.
  • Prepare study related materials.
  • May assist with data entry, cleaning and guided analysis.
  • Monitor study participants as required by the study protocol.
  • Maintain supply inventory.
  • May utilize study-related devices and equipment as part of assessment procedures.
  • Maintain study records and edit for completeness and accuracy.
  • Attend regular team meetings.
  • Troubleshoot field issues when necessary.
  • Use discretion to resolve issues when unplanned events arise.
