Job Summary

The Imaging Research Analyst II participates in scientific research projects, ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, analyzing possible solutions, writing articles, reports, and manuscripts, and assisting in drafting presentations. This role supports users in the Light Microscopy Core, focusing on building integrated imaging-to-analysis pipelines. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining high-end commercial fluorescent microscopes, training users in experiment design and microscope use, and ensuring reproducible collection and analysis of image-based data.

Responsibilities
  • Manages the operation and troubleshooting of existing and future core equipment as well as any required maintenance.
  • Responsible for training users in the use of core equipment including best practices for scientific imaging and image processing.
  • Responsible for running image processing software, including Imaris, ImageJ/Fiji, QuPath, cellpose and others.
  • Trains users to use image processing software, including creation of Java-based analysis pipelines for large datasets and best practices for presenting images and gathering scientifically valid results.
  • Assists with the whole slide scanning service.
  • Manages record keeping including usage and publications.
  • Takes responsibility for the coordination of demos of equipment and software with commercial vendors.
  • Assists the Technical Director with future capital improvements including selecting technology, preliminary data collection and grant writing.
  • Ensures that lab and office supplies are ordered as necessary.
  • Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge to administer a research project, managing lab and/or research-related duties and tasks, and helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.
  • Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
  • Takes responsibility for non‑laboratory duties: transcribing and coding data; developing data collection instruments; presenting research; and recruiting and scheduling research subjects.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.

Preferred Competencies
  • Strong communication skills, high degree of professionalism.
  • Interest in teaching, technical writing, and/or software programming (Java, Python).
  • Commitment to providing a high level of service and working in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Working Conditions

Laboratory environment.

Compensation

Pay Rate: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00.
