Position SummaryPlanning, Sustainability and Project Management seeks a graduate student hourly employee to assist with programs and initiatives related to UIC's Net Zero Water Commitment. The Graduate Hourly will work with the Carbon Neutral Program Director, net‑zero water subcommittee of the Chancellor's Committee on Sustainability and Energy, and other UIC departments to implement the Net‑Zero Water section of UIC's Climate Commitments Action Plan.
This position will be 10 hours per week during UIC's 2026 Summer session and/or Fall semester.
Duties & Responsibilities- Pursuing WAVE Assess verification for UIC; collect data on metrics related to UIC’s water‑related risks, prepare submission materials and coordinate submission with PSPM, the Water Council, and CCSE-Net Zero Water subcommittee
- Providing administrative and clerical support to the Net Zero Water sub‑committee of the Chancellor’s Committee on Sustainability and Energy being convened by Sustainability at PSPM
- Drafting recommendations to advance the sustainability and equity of UIC’s water systems.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Interest in and knowledge of water sustainability issues, data‑driven sustainability programs, and third‑party verification.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including advanced formulas.
- Excellent communication skills; strong interpersonal communication.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
