Staff Scientist Position in Ovarian Cancer Research Laboratory
The Kenny/Lengyel laboratory at the University of Chicago, part of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology/Section of Gynecologic Oncology, is seeking a staff scientist with expertise in bottom-up proteomics to advance plasma proteomics research and/or spatial proteomics. The projects aim to establish MS-based plasma proteomic methods capable of distinguishing between benign and malignant ovarian diseases, and to use LC-MS/MS-based spatial proteomics to identify the origins, development, and response to treatment in ovarian cancer patients.
The laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge instruments and a large collection of clinically annotated samples.
Responsibilities include training and supervising laboratory personnel, leading collaborative efforts to optimize proteomics methods, serving as the primary contact for proteomics related collaborations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to scientific writing efforts. Minimum qualifications include a PhD in a related field and 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Preferred qualifications include 3-5 years of hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS systems, strong academic background with a publication record in peer-reviewed journals, and proficiency in advanced research methodologies.
Working conditions include routine exposure to biological specimens, chemicals, and standard laboratory equipment, regular use of advanced proteomics and mass spectrometry instrumentation, and significant computer based work for data analysis, modeling, documentation, and scientific writing. Application documents required include a resume and cover letter.
