Position: Research Associate I (Hourly) - Department of Medicine, Maternal Health Research Unit

Research Associate I

Position Summary:

This position supports research activities within the Maternal Health Research Unit in the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago. The Research Associate I assists with research studies focused on maternal and infant health outcomes in Illinois, including work in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Public Health and related initiatives.

The position contributes to research by assisting with data collection, management, documentation, and reporting in accordance with established research protocols.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of research activities, including surveys, interviews, and other data collection methods in accordance with established protocols.
  • Collect, enter, code, clean, and organize research data for analysis.
  • Prepare data for analysis and assist in documenting descriptive results.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize findings to support research activities.
  • Maintain study materials, files, and inventories as needed.

Communication and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of research activities, data, and results.
  • Assist in preparing reports, summaries, and presentations related to research findings and project progress.
  • Support coordination of project communications by sharing updates and materials with project team members and collaborators.

Project Support:

  • Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining meeting notes for research-related activities.
  • Support compliance with project requirements, including documentation and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with research staff and partners to support data collection and project activities.

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required.
  • Knowledge of fundamental research concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Entry level knowledge of research methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in community-based research, public health, or maternal and child health initiatives.
