Salary/Grade: NEX/11
Target hiring range: $19.89 - $24.86 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
The lab focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which calcium channels are activated and how they regulate gene expression, immune cell function, and neuronal and astrocyte functions. Responsibilities include breeding, weaning, genotyping, and maintaining 20-30 strains of mice in our colony; performing behavioral tests and analyses on mice for multiple projects; setting up and conducting basic experiments; and collaborating on multiple ongoing research projects with other lab members.
SpecificResponsibilities
- Follow protocols, design set‑ups, and conduct basic experiments.
- Analyze and troubleshoot protocols and data, recommend improvements.
- Use advanced skills to perform the following activities:
- Molecular Biology – PCR, RT-PCR
- Cellular Biology – Cell culture, cell isolation, functional studies
- Histology – Tissue fixation/processing, immunohistochemistry, microscopy
- Animal – Husbandry, breeding and screening transgenic mice, dissections, surgical procedures, database management of colony
- Administration – Maintain detailed records of results, perform scientific literature searches
- Finance – Order and maintain inventory of reagents, mice, and lab supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols.
- Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets and basic computations.
- Attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Manual dexterity.

- Setting up mouse breeding, dissection, and cell culture, histological techniques.
