** The Cytometry and Antibody Technology (CAT) Facility serves the faculty by providing access to state-of-the-art technology in quantitative analytical approaches to measure molecular and cellular function. The facility is designed to meet the widespread needs for specialized cytometric analysis and continues to respond to the demand for new and improved technology. It is a BSD core part of the Office of Shared Research Facilities.
** Job Summary
** The job participates in scientific research projects. Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Writes articles, reports and manuscripts. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.
The Flow Cytometry Sr. Analyst provides technical expertise in flow cytometry and cell analysis to support researchers, partner institutions, and biotechnology organizations. This role delivers exceptional customer service by operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting specialized flow cytometry instrumentation, including cell sorters and analyzers, while assisting investigators with experimental design, fluorescence assay development, and data acquisition.
** Responsibilities
* ** Provide excellent customer service by operating cell analyzers, cell sorters and analysis software, assisting the users in developing fluorescence assays and participate in the maintenance of the facility’s specialized instruments.
* Responsible for operating and maintaining cell sorter (Aria and Aria Fusion) for faculty researchers.
* Support and train CAT Facility staff in the proper use of the facility’s equipment. Perform the maintenance and quality control protocols on benchtop flow cytometers.
* Assist core facility users in the operation of instruments and advice on the most appropriate techniques and protocols to use, diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues on the instruments hosted in the facility.
* Responsible for operating and maintaining bench-top flow cytometers (BD LSRII, BD LSR Fortessa, BD-Attune C6) and performing maintenance and quality control protocols on benchtop flow cytometers.
* Assist the Technical Director with ongoing scientific projects, ensure compliance of research activities/procedures with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies. Analyzes possible solutions using standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Take responsibility for other laboratory duties, not limited to ordering, inventory, organization and upkeep.
* Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.
* Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
* Takes responsibility for the following laboratory duties: recognizing abnormal results and varying conditions or procedures to correct problems; setting up and performing experiments. Analyze the meaning, significance, causes, and effects of the subject.
