Position SummaryUnder direction of the Director of Decision Support and the Associate Director of Data Analytics, the Extra Help Institutional Research Data Specialist organizes, integrates, and analyzes structured data from disparate university sources to support operational research and institutional decision making. The position develops and applies complex mathematical models and analytical methods to study College of Medicine operations, interprets data and trends, and prepares research findings, reports, and visualizations for university administrators and publication.
The specialist also supports the College of Medicine dashboard, a data visualization tool that provides concise, accessible reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics aligned with the College's mission.
- Codes, tests, debugs, and documents mathematical computer programs used to develop mathematical models of university operations, including student flow, enrollment, faculty flow, and academic outcomes.
- Formulates and applies mathematical models to analyze university operations and support institutional research studies.
- Designs and implements statistical computations and analytical methods to support operational research and reporting.
- Gathers informational data from university departments, existing databases, and other institutional data sources for use in research studies and reports.
- Participates in the collection, integration, processing, and analysis of institutional data.
- Assists in interpreting data and trends, summarizing results, and preparing reports for submission to university administrators or for publication.
- Prepares tables, charts, statistical summaries, and other materials used to present institutional research findings.
- Participates in the maintenance of ETL processes and data transfers between the University Enterprise Data Warehouse and local databases.
- Develop and maintain data procedures supporting institutional reporting and dashboard projects.
- Recommends and implements improvements to methods, procedures, and techniques for institutional data collection, analysis, modeling, and reporting, and performs other related duties as assigned.
