Full-Time Faculty Positions

The University of Chicago's Department of Human Genetics in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for full-time faculty members. Academic rank, tenure status, and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. These positions are benefits eligible. The University of Chicago offers a wide range of benefits programs and resources for eligible employees, including health, retirement, and paid time off. Competitive start-up funds and generous research space, including access to state-of-the-art core facilities, will be available, as well as graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within the biological and physical sciences.

The Department has broad research interests and existing strengths in the genetics of complex traits and common diseases, statistical and population genetics, and functional genomics of human disease. In this search, we seek scientists that would strengthen and complement our current research in a range of experimental or computational areas. The University is a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation.

The Biological Sciences Division, Physical Sciences Division, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. This structure facilitates opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration, notably in the context of two newly launched programs in Computational Biology and (Epi) genomic Networks. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent.

We especially welcome applications from candidates whose interests include mechanisms of gene expression and chromatin regulation, genome function, gene regulatory networks, the interplay of genetics and environmental factors, and the development and application of high throughput experimental tools. We also seek candidates interested in developing and applying computational, statistical, and machine learning/AI methods to address these and other fundamental questions in human genetics and genomics.

To be considered, those interested must apply through the University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board which uses Interfolio to accept applications. Applicants must upload a cover letter, CV including bibliography, research statement, teaching statement and contact information for 3 references. The research statement should summarize past research accomplishments and future research plans. Review of complete applications will continue until the positions are filled.
