Job Summary
Responsible for performing all or some of the various duties within the Personalized Services Department which may include laundry, dry cleaning, optical shop, barber, beauty shop, video rental, simple floral displays, FTD gift wrapping, Western Union engraving, sorting and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail packages, stocking, maintaining applicable sales areas, check cas‑ing, acceptance, processing of Military Star Card application, acceptance of Military Star Card payments, etc.
Responsibilities- BARBER BEAUTY SHOP
- Serves as receptionist, answering phones and scheduling appointments.
- Keeps track of barber beauty tickets, tracks productivity and performs daily record keeping as needed.
- Works with stylist and vendors to maintain shop inventories, initiate replenishment, and conduct monthly inventories as required.
- Assists barbers and beauticians in maintaining sanitation requirements.
- FLOWER SHOP
- Creates or assists in creating floral arrangements such as corsages, table arrangements, and bouquets.
- Advises customers of types of floral arrangements, prices, and instructions for the care of fresh cut flowers, potted flowers, and plants.
- Maintains fresh and dry flowers and plants by dusting, watering, and arranging them on display counters and in a floral area.
- Assists customers in the selection of plants and fresh flowers, takes Teleflora, FTD, and special orders, and maintains necessary documentation.
- MAY be required to deliver flowers on base; a valid license is required.
- LAUNDRY DRY CLEANING
- Receives garments to be cleaned, computes cost, and issues receipt tickets.
- Files articles by rail in alphabetical and numerical order and checks ticket numbers against file copies.
- Handles articles and delivery tickets from contractors and prepares items for pickup by Laundry Dry Cleaning Service.
- OPTICAL SHOP
- Receives prescription order forms, enters data into a log, and forwards forms to manufacturers.
- Receives invoices and merchandise from manufacturers or laboratory, notes discrepancies, and handles returns or replacements.
- Orders replacement parts, maintains records of frame size, color, and patron number, and issues sales slips.
- Notifies patrons of receipt of merchandise.
- PERSONALIZED SERVICES
- Performs personalized services such as gift wrapping, taking orders for personalized stationery, wedding invitations, etc.
- Prepares rental agreements, maintains records and logs, and updates price sheets of authorized items.
- Performs engraving functions and handles Western Union checks.
- Maintains display area orderly and processes incoming/outgoing mail in accordance with posted procedures.
- Manages packing services for mailing packages, receives and processes priority mail, flat‑rate express delivery, UPS, Fed Ex, and maintains receipts.
- Handles PO‑box rentals, stamp sales, and manages 1583A forms and other operation logs involving Western Union and FTD engraving.
- Assists customers with Military Star Card accounts, provides applications, basic program information, and accepts payments.
- VIDEO RENTAL
- Rents videotapes to authorized patrons and opens customer accounts.
- Completes rental agreement forms, checks in returned tapes, and performs minor repairs and adjustments as necessary.
- Operates cash register, ensures cash control procedures, prepares daily cash reports, and provides refunds, exchanges, and price adjustments.
- Assists with inventory taking and maintains adequate supplies and records.
- LAYAWAY SERVICES
- Explains layaway policies, runs reports, and reconciles layaways, including notifications of late payments and cancellations.
- Accepts and places customer special orders, follows up with buyers or vendors, and advises customers on delivery status.
- Performs cash register transactions, handles checks, charges, debit cards, layaways, and gift certificates accurately.
- Maintains knowledge of store policies, NEX store policies, and Righter Merchandising System functions.
- Provides customer assistance, resolves complaints tactfully, and trains new associates as needed.
- GENERAL OPERATION
- Exercises courtesy when serving and assisting customers.
- Works independently under general supervision, following policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Receives or refers unusual problems to supervisor and participates in performance reviews.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
6 months responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.
Substitution of Education for ExperienceGraduation from a full 4‑year or senior high school or possession of a General Education Development (GED) certificate may substitute for the experience requirements.
