Specialty Programs Group – Transportation (SPGT) is seeking an Assistant Vice-President of Business Development to lead business development and distribution strategy across the assigned geography.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent all SPGT divisions, products, and services to third‑party insurance distributors, driving profitable growth.
  • Implement strategic business development initiatives focused on new agency relationships and prospecting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key agency decision‑makers, focusing on large opportunities and controlled books of business.
  • Serve as the primary point‑of‑contact for new distribution partners until relationships are handed over to program specialists or other SPGT representatives.
  • Maximize new distribution opportunities through existing and newly appointed agencies within the assigned territories, following business target‑state strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Leaders of SPG companies to execute strategy and secure new trading relationships.
  • Set and track sales goals, provide regular updates to senior management on progress, and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Drive new agency business opportunities to the SPT division, including traveling to distribution offices 15–20 times per month.
  • Participate in monthly SPGT conference calls with Business Leaders.
  • Meet KPI targets: appoint 2 new producing SPGT – Last Mile Delivery agencies ($200k net revenue), 4 new producing SPGT – Moving & Storage agencies ($200k), and 5 new producing SPGT – Trucking agencies ($500k).
  • Work with business leaders to deliver profitable growth within their target‑state strategy outlined in the business plan.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Detail‑oriented with superior communication, interpersonal, multi‑tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Public speaking and presentation experience.
  • A team player with a positive attitude, self‑motivation, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • College diploma or university degree.
  • Valid P&C license.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $100,000 – $120,000, based on skills, experience, and location.
  • Eligible for annual bonuses, equity, and commissions.
