Position OverviewThe Lighting Sales Specialist serves as a trusted advisor for customers selecting decorative and functional lighting solutions. This showroom-based position requires daily interaction with homeowners, contractors, designers, and trade professionals while managing projects from initial consultation through final delivery.
The ideal candidate combines strong lighting product knowledge with a consultative sales approach, exceptional customer service skills, and a proven ability to build lasting client relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily showroom coverage and assist both walk-in customers and trade accounts.
- Consult with clients on decorative and functional lighting selections for residential projects.
- Generate sales revenue while achieving monthly sales and profitability goals.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with builders, remodelers, designers, and other trade professionals.
- Manage projects from initial consultation through order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare quotations, bids, and product recommendations.
- Follow up on proposals, orders, and customer inquiries in a timely manner.
- Coordinate order processing and ensure products are delivered accurately and on schedule.
- Stay current on lighting trends, technologies, and industry innovations.
- Provide design support, project walkthroughs, measurements, and blueprint takeoffs when appropriate.
- 2+ years of lighting sales experience in a retail showroom or related environment.
- Strong understanding of lighting products and lighting design principles.
- Demonstrated success in sales performance, account management, and customer relationship development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and customers simultaneously.
- Experience working with trade professionals, contractors, builders, or designers preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
