We are seeking an experienced and technically fluent Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth in small molecule API CDMO services across North America.

This is not a generalist sales role.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Established connections within pharmaceutical and biotech outsourcing for API development/manufacturing
  • A deep technical understanding of process chemistry, GMP API development, and regulatory pathways
  • Proven experience in consultative selling of CDMO services from pre-clinical to commercial phases

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and grow a defined territory of pharma and biotech accounts, targeting companies in need of small molecule API development and manufacturing.
  • Identify, qualify, and close opportunities aligned with core capabilities: hazardous chemistry, HPAPIs, controlled substances, and complex synthesis.
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact, guiding clients from initial discovery through contract execution.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts (process chemistry, analytical development, project management, regulatory) to build tailored proposals and solutions.
  • Maintain detailed opportunity records in CRM (Salesforce), including pipeline forecasting and reporting.
  • Attend high-impact industry events to expand presence and generate leads.
  • Cultivate long-term partnerships with strategic accounts to drive repeat business and program expansion.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of direct experience in business development within a CDMO or CMO, focused on small molecule APIs
  • Proven success selling GMP development and manufacturing services to pharma/biotech companies
  • In-depth understanding of CMC development, IND-enabling activities, tech transfer, process scale-up, and regulatory pathways
  • Technical fluency in process chemistry, scale-up, and API lifecycle management
  • Ability to work independently in a remote role and travel across North America up to 50%
