National Account Manager - CPG/Grocery

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Compensation: Competitive Base Salary $120k + Bonus Opportunity

Schedule: Hybrid — 3 days in-office / 2 remote when not traveling

We are partnering with a growing and well-established food manufacturing organization seeking an experienced National Account Manager to lead and expand strategic customer relationships across national distributors, food service operators, and retail channels.

This role is ideal for a high-performing sales professional with strong experience managing large national accounts within the CPG, food service, or retail industries. The ideal candidate will bring a consultative sales approach, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to drive revenue growth through strategic account development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow relationships with key national distributors, food service operators, club accounts, and strategic partners
  • Drive sales growth by identifying expansion opportunities within existing accounts and developing new business opportunities
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional programs, and customer agreements to maximize profitability and market share
  • Partner with distributors to support product placement, inventory management, and execution of sales initiatives
  • Lead joint business planning sessions and regular account reviews with key customers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, finance, supply chain, and operations teams to support customer needs and service levels
  • Manage and support broker relationships to ensure alignment with company goals and sales objectives
  • Assist with trade spending, promotional budgets, deductions, and forecasting
  • Analyze sales trends, customer performance, and market data to support strategic decision-making
  • Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of National Account Management experience within CPG, food service, retail, or related industries
  • Proven experience managing large distributor and national retail accounts
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Experience working with distributor networks and food service channels
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and sales reporting tools
  • Familiarity with category management and merchandising strategies
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Ability to travel as needed
