Downtown Chicago

As an Outside Food Sales Representative, you will manage sales and relationships for existing and prospective customers within your assigned territory. Your duties include pursuing new customers, deepening and strengthening existing relationships, and managing the sales territory.

• Research industry and market trends impacting restaurants within your territory
• Identify and research prospective customers within your territory
• Develop sales strategies that highlight products, services, values, and solutions offered by Gordon Food Service and present the strategy to prospective customers

• Visit all customers within the assigned territory on a weekly, bi‑weekly, or monthly basis
• Conduct business reviews to determine existing customer needs and opportunities for growth
• Provide ongoing training to customers on Gordon Food Service product offerings
• Identify opportunities within existing customers' businesses where Gordon Food Service can add value through product and service offerings

• Balance new customer acquisition with deepening and strengthening existing relationships
• Coordinate visits to prospective customers and existing customers
• Communicate order status and order processing updates to customers

During your first 90 days, Gordon Food Service provides various training offerings—e‑learning, classroom sessions, video role‑plays, job shadowing, and peer sales representative mentorship—to set you up for success. You will learn:

• How to use Gordon Food Service systems, processes, and tools to manage customer relationships
• Products available to Gordon Food Service customers
• The sales process for engaging new customers
• How to establish relationships within our vast network of resources
• Best practices for developing relationships with current and prospective customers
• Strategies for effectively managing your territory

• Preferred:

  High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s degree and/or culinary certificate

  1 year of prior sales, business, or food service experience

  Valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record
