Sales Representative, Business Development, B2B Sales
Energy Systems Group is looking for an Account Executive to join our Public Sector Central Region team. The position will be based in Kentucky with frequent travel of 30% to 50%, including overnight stays.
The Account Executive is responsible for generating new business using a consultative sales approach to develop leads and relationships with potential utility and public sector clients, driving new revenue while achieving appropriate gross margins. The Executive must understand the customers' needs and concerns, work closely with the operations team to translate those into feasible, installable solutions, and communicate directly with company and customer leadership, engineers, project managers, and contract specialists.
EssentialFunctions
- Prospect for new business through trade shows, research, networking, and cold calling.
- Develop thorough knowledge of the renewable energy industry, structure, opportunities, trends, and issues.
- Cultivate effective business relationships and communicate solutions that meet customer goals and achieve sales objectives.
- Open communication lines to understand customer needs and ensure solutions align with their goals.
- Meet activity and result standards, including first calls, letters of authorization or intent, sales volume, and gross margin dollar goals.
- Prepare and present professional proposals addressing all customer needs, including financial proposals.
- Maintain customer contact throughout the installation period to resolve additional needs.
- Monitor account plan progress, market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity.
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
- Five or more years of industry experience selling large solutions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Highly effective sales negotiation and closing techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to compose proposals, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
