Position OverviewTrump International Hotel & Tower Chicago is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Sales & Marketing to lead the hotel's overall sales, marketing, and revenue generation efforts.
This executive leadership role is responsible for driving total hotel revenue across group, transient, catering, banquet, and ancillary business segments while maximizing profitability and maintaining the hotel's position as one of Chicago's premier luxury destinations. As a member of the Executive Committee, the Director of Sales & Marketing partners closely with Revenue Management and hotel leadership to develop innovative sales strategies, mentor a high-performing team, and deliver exceptional business results.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute the hotel's overall sales and marketing strategy to maximize revenue and market share.
- Drive revenue across group, transient, catering, banquet, meeting space, and ancillary revenue streams.
- Partner closely with the Director of Revenue and General Manager to develop pricing, yield, and market strategies.
- Achieve and exceed annual room night, revenue, and profitability goals.
- Direct and oversee all group, transient, catering, and banquet sales activities.
- Develop annual marketing plans designed to strengthen market presence and generate new business opportunities.
- Analyze competitive market data, demand trends, and account performance to develop pricing and deployment strategies.
- Oversee forecasting, budgeting, revenue analysis, and monthly sales reporting.
- Recruit, train, mentor, coach, and evaluate Sales & Marketing team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Support Sales and Catering Managers with client negotiations, proposals, contract development, and closing strategies.
- Participate in client meetings, property tours, presentations, and industry networking events.
- Represent the hotel within community organizations, tourism partners, and hospitality industry associations.
- Direct local advertising, public relations, and promotional initiatives that enhance the hotel's luxury brand presence.
- Ensure seamless collaboration between Sales, Revenue Management, Catering, Operations, and other hotel departments.
- Lead daily business reviews, weekly sales strategy meetings, executive meetings, and departmental meetings.
- Monitor market trends and identify opportunities to grow market share and strengthen competitive positioning.
- Maintain accountability for departmental budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
- Provide strategic leadership that supports long-term business growth and exceptional guest satisfaction.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of progressive sales and marketing leadership experience within a similarly sized luxury hotel operation.
- Demonstrated success leading hotel sales teams and achieving aggressive revenue goals.
- Experience managing group, transient, catering, and marketing functions preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of hotel sales, marketing, and revenue management.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales initiatives that drive measurable results.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and revenue optimization.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Experience recruiting, mentoring, and retaining high-performing sales professionals.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Delphi.
- Knowledge of Visual One/Agilysys preferred.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a data-driven approach to business planning.
- Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal and guest service skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with executive leadership and hotel departments.
As a member of the Executive Committee, the Director of Sales & Marketing plays a key leadership role in the overall success of the hotel. This position is expected to foster collaboration across departments, champion the hotel's luxury brand standards, and create a culture focused on exceptional guest service, innovation, and financial performance.
Reporting StructureThis position reports directly to the General Manager / Vice President and serves as a member of the hotel's Executive Committee.
Physical RequirementsThis position requires the ability to move throughout the hotel, attend meetings and networking events, conduct property tours, and travel as needed to support sales initiatives.
