Client Relationship Executive

Cross Country Consulting is one of the fastest-growing professional services firms in the country, and Chicago is an important Tier 1 growth market. We are looking for a seasoned, exceptionally well-networked Client Relationship Executive to join our Chicago team and help shape and build the firm's presence across the Chicago and Midwest Region. Working closely with our Practice Leaders across Accounting Advisory, Risk Advisory, Technology-Enabled Transformation, and Transactions, you will drive new client relationships with the Office of the CFO, Private Equity sponsors, and C-suite and board-level leaders at mid-market and enterprise companies.

Cross Country has made a significant investment in AI capability and an AI lab — our Chicago team sells AI-enabled services across all practice areas, creating a genuinely differentiated conversation with clients. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a growing, collaborative, and entrepreneurial firm at exactly the right moment.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and convert a pipeline of new client relationships across Chicago and the Midwest — developing trusted relationships within the Office of the CFO, with Private Equity sponsors, and at the C-suite and board level, and working collaboratively with Cross Country's practice leaders and delivery teams to convert opportunities into engagements.
  • Leverage your network across the CFO, Controller, finance leadership, board, and Private Equity communities to position Cross Country as the go-to advisory partner in the Chicago and Midwest market.
  • Develop, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at target companies — including C-Suite, controllers, finance leadership, board members, Private Equity sponsors, and centers of influence.
  • Proactively engage your network — including audit partners, service providers, professional associations, and industry forums — to drive business development and generate pipeline.
  • Plan and execute unique, high-impact business development networking events that build Cross Country's brand and presence in the Chicago market.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive client relationship strategy, coordinating internal and external resources to optimize Cross Country's position across the Chicago and Midwest market.
  • Collaborate with leaders across all service lines to craft and execute targeted go-to-market strategies aligned with the firm's relationship-centric and AI-enabled approach.
  • Be part of building and scaling a world-class national sales organization and client relationship capability.
  • Track and report on pipeline performance, providing regular updates to firm leadership on activity, opportunities, and revenue forecast.

What You'll Bring:

  • 10+ years of demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management, with a proven track record of selling within professional services, consulting, staffing, or software to the Office of the CFO.
  • Exceptional, well-established professional network across the Chicago and Midwest region — with trusted, senior-level relationships spanning the Office of the CFO, C-suite, board members, and Private Equity sponsors at mid-market and enterprise companies.
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying, developing, and closing significant new client relationships — working collaboratively with delivery leaders and practice experts to win.
  • Knowledge of the business development and client relationship cycle — including sales planning, lead generation, pipeline management, account planning, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, technology-enabled environment — curious about how AI and emerging solutions are reshaping the advisory landscape and the Office of the CFO.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams and with all levels of the firm.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Creative, self-confident, and flexible.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and excitement around building something meaningful in a high-growth market.
  • Great sense of humor required!

Compensation:

  • Base salary range for this position is $200,000 – $250,000 annually.
  • This role is also eligible for variable incentive compensation (commission) based on revenue generated by the individual. Total on-target earnings are expected to range from approximately $450,000 – $500,000 annually, though actual earnings may vary based on individual performance.
  • This role is also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.
  • In addition, this role may be eligible to participate in the firm's long-term incentive program, which may include incentive units, subject to applicable plan terms, approvals, and eligibility requirements.
