Job OverviewThe Strategic Account Manager is responsible for developing and executing long‑term sales strategies for assigned key and national accounts to drive sustainable revenue growth and strengthen customer partnerships. This role serves as a trusted advisor to customers, aligning Ingersoll Rand’s industrial compressed air solutions with customer business objectives, coordinating cross‑functional resources, and expanding share of wallet through strategic planning, relationship management, and value‑based selling.
Responsibilities- Develop, deploy, and administer customer strategies based on co‑value creation.
- Serve as the point person for all customer‑related activities, including strategy development, resource coordination, sales reporting, forecasting, technical support, and customer service.
- Communicate appropriate roles, responsibilities, rewards, processes and tools to other team members.
- Make joint customer visits with other team members as appropriate.
- Utilize defined account management processes, support tools and resources.
- Cross‑sell by identifying opportunities with targeted customers for IR Industrial Segment and for Ingersoll Rand enterprise.
- Establish, maintain and enhance working relationships with key decision‑makers and influencers to advance customer loyalty.
- Assume lead role in maintaining customer relationship data and knowledge; outline and maintain relationship maps.
- Report progress, activities, and revenue generation each month; manage pipeline opportunities.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain commercial programs (pricing, terms & conditions, NDAs, incentive/rebate programs).
- Address and resolve issues across distribution channels, including aftermarket service support.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 4+ years’ experience in an industrial sales business setting.
- Excellent relationship‑building and interpersonal skills.
- Establish and build solid relationships with customers and team members.
- Honest, self‑motivated and team‑oriented.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Mechanical and electrical expertise.
- Ability to assess customer needs, analyze and interpret data, perform equipment performance calculations, and recommend technical solutions.
- Proven business and sales acumen, including prospecting, navigating customer organizations, value selling, and winning competitive accounts.
- Excellent prioritization and time‑management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business, sales or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Salesforce or another CRM.
- Experience working with air compressors.
- Travel 50–60% monthly across North America; candidates must have access to a major airport.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for at least 12 months without major violations.
The total pay range for this role, including incentive opportunities, is $120,000‑$300,000.
