Atlas Global Talent is working with an established freight brokerage that is continuing to expand its Chicago operation.
The company's Chicago office already has approximately 25 employees across customer sales and carrier sales, with team members working across both onsite and hybrid arrangements.
As part of its continued growth, the business is looking to add experienced Carrier Sales Representatives to its existing carrier team.
This is an opportunity for someone who understands the carrier side of freight brokerage and enjoys negotiating, building carrier relationships and taking ownership of their work without being heavily micromanaged.
The RoleAs a Carrier Sales Representative, you'll be responsible for sourcing and securing reliable capacity for customer freight while protecting margins and maintaining strong relationships with carriers.
You'll work closely with the customer sales team to understand their freight requirements and ensure loads are covered efficiently and competitively.
Your responsibilities will include:- Sourcing capacity across the US transportation market
- Building and maintaining relationships with carriers and owner-operators
- Negotiating competitive rates with carriers
- Covering customer loads efficiently and within required margins
- Developing a reliable carrier network
- Identifying repeat capacity for regular lanes
- Working closely with customer sales representatives on pricing and capacity
- Communicating load requirements clearly with carriers
- Managing carrier communication throughout the shipment lifecycle
- Monitoring loads and helping resolve service issues when required
- Maintaining accurate carrier and load information within company systems
- Identifying opportunities to improve margin through stronger carrier relationships
- Developing preferred carrier relationships across key lanes and markets
- Supporting the wider team during periods of high volume
- Taking ownership of your individual performance and responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have previous experience on the carrier side of a US freight brokerage or 3PL.

- Carrier Account Manager
- Logistics Coordinator with strong carrier-facing responsibilities
- Freight Broker with significant carrier sales experience
- Previous experience within freight brokerage or third-party logistics
- Strong knowledge of the US domestic transportation market
- Experience sourcing and negotiating with carriers
- Understanding of spot-market pricing and capacity
- Strong negotiation skills
- Confidence communicating with carriers throughout the day
- Commercial awareness around buy rates, sell rates and gross margin
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced brokerage environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple loads and priorities simultaneously
- A proactive approach to building long-term carrier relationships
- The ability to work independently without requiring constant supervision
New hires will spend their first month fully onsite at the Chicago office.
This gives you time to become familiar with the company's systems, carrier network, customers, processes and internal workflow while working directly alongside the existing team.
After the initial onboarding period, the role moves to a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in the office.
You'll be joining an established environment rather than building a carrier function from scratch. There is already a sizeable customer and carrier sales team operating from the Chicago office.
CompensationBase Salary: $60,000-$85,000 depending on experience
