Job Overview
Triumvirate Environmental is hiring an Environmental Specialist for its Lab & Onsite Support Services (Lab/OSS) team. The role provides on‑site support, manages hazardous waste programs, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
This position is based on client sites in southern Chicagoland and reports to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities- Develop an understanding of OSHA regulations and Triumvirate’s Health and Safety practices.
- Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, create all federal/state waste documents, and manage related paperwork.
- Handle hazardous waste containers on client sites, including loading/unloading from vehicles.
- Conduct safety equipment and hazardous waste inspections.
- Perform and document Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits for clients as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service, supporting the WOW commitment.
- Maintain high-level state and federal regulatory expertise (e.g., RCRA, DOT, OSHA).
- Execute spill response measures, including assessment and cleanup.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the hazardous‑waste industry, or relevant military experience.
- Team player with ability to work independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for client and stakeholder interactions.
- Analytical skills to develop solutions and implement strategies.
- Excellent relationship building with clients and colleagues.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours (Mon‑Fri).
- Ability to complete a 2‑ to 3‑year professional advancement program in hazardous‑waste management.
- Experience handling hazardous chemicals and biological waste; role is safety‑sensitive.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre‑employment physical, and drug screen (including THC).
- Participation in random drug screening program (including THC).
- Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds regularly.
- Prior relevant industry experience.
- Prior experience in a customer service role.
- Active HAZWOPER 24‑ or 40‑hour certification.
- Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
