The Department of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time tenure eligible or tenure track Investigator at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will be housed within the Department of Surgery at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago with cross-functional responsibilities. Responsibilities include partnering with surgeon-scientists on growing and supporting Departmental federally funded research studies with a strong component of health services and outcomes research, consistent with departmental and university missions.
They will continue to develop and sustain ongoing collaborative relationships with research leadership throughout the department and the university.
Qualified candidates will hold a PhD in epidemiology, data science, public health, physiology, or similar degree path. Expertise in or a desire to work with surgeon-scientists to create solutions which have broad applicability. The ideal candidate will also have experience in one or many of these areas: health care outcomes, real-world outcomes, surgical outcomes, cost-effectiveness research, data science, long-term outcome research, use of EHR and other “big data” sources, and interest in advanced statistical methods.
Postdoctoral fellowship is strongly preferred along with a track record of funding.
The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.
The expected base pay range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 per year, with annual merit increases dictated by performance. Lurie Children’s Hospital and Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline;
departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
This position is located at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, however applications must be submitted online through Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
