Position: Clinical Research Manager (Infectious Disease & Pathology/Laboratory Medicine)

Overview

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is the largest pediatric provider in the region and offers advanced medical technology and family-friendly care.

The Manager, Clinical Research provides leadership, strategic management, and administration for clinical and translational research. The role supervises and manages research staff, serves as the key operational interface between funding agencies, the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute (SMCRI), the research team and principal investigators, and works with multidisciplinary physicians to promote customer service and employee satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead clinical and translational research operations and supervise research staff.
  • Serve as the interface between funding agencies, SMCRI, research team, and principal investigators.
  • Develop strategic plans, policies, and procedures to achieve research goals.
  • Disseminate critical clinical and operational updates and information to teams in real time.
  • Identify new federal, foundation, and industry funding opportunities, prepare grant applications, and manage existing grants and contracts.
  • Implement research and financial policies in collaboration with Research Business Operations (RBO) and Office of Clinical and Community Trials (OCCT).
  • Ensure accurate charge tracking and financial compliance for grant/gift accounts.
  • Coordinate time and effort reporting for faculty and research staff.
  • Facilitate contract negotiations, accrual tracking, and financial reconciliation.
  • Monitor study funds, reconcile staff salaries, subcontractor invoices, sponsor payments, and other allocable expenses.
  • Maintain document management and participant tracking in Lurie systems (eRegulatory, eRA, CTMS, Epic, etc.).
  • Prepare and submit regulatory documents and oversee audits.
  • Partner with Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC) to ensure compliance.
  • Lead or participate in division research meetings and sponsor study meetings.
  • Promote research program through local and national meetings, publications, and presentations.
  • Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate research personnel, and oversee performance evaluations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
    Master’s degree and/or relevant research certification preferred.
  • Five or more years of research experience.
  • Expert knowledge of FDA and GCP guidelines.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Strong communication skills in leadership role with clinical, business, and administrative staff.
  • Ability to work in a team and provide outstanding customer service.
Pay & Benefits

Salary range: $83,200.00–$.
